Washington College invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Elementary Education. Responsibilities include overseeing the elementary program, teaching the equivalent of three four-credit courses per semester (including emergent reading), and working with Professional Development Schools.
Requirements: Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or related field; knowledge of contemporary theory, research, and practice in the fields of reading and elementary education; significant teaching experience at the elementary level; evidence of relevant program of research; ability to work with state and school districts in collaborative endeavors; knowledge of the culture and intellectual environment of a liberal arts college; strong knowledge of children's literature desirable.
Washington College is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, enrolls approximately 1,500 students, and is within easy driving distance to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore.

The Department of Economics at Washington College invites applications for a tenure-track opening as an entry-level Assistant Professor of Economics to teach undergraduate economics courses in Labor Economics starting in August of 2010. A secondary field in Econometrics or Health Economics is desirable, but not necessary. Teaching responsibilities include introductory or intermediate theory courses and upper-level labor economics courses as well as supervision of undergraduate senior theses. Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential. Applicants should have a Ph.D., but individuals near degree completion will be considered.
